The story is a classic love triangle centered on (Sridevi), a vibrant young woman who falls in love with Rohit (Rishi Kapoor). Their romance is cut short when Rohit is paralyzed in a tragic accident and, out of a sense of self-sacrifice, pushes Chandni away to spare her a life of caretaking. Chandni moves to Mumbai, where she meets Lalit (Vinod Khanna), a kind widower who eventually proposes to her.
