This was the premise of the 2005 supernatural action-horror film Constantine , directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Keanu Reeves as the titular demon hunter. Based on the DC Comics/Vertigo series Hellblazer (featuring the blonde, working-class, British chain-smoker John Constantine), the film took bold creative liberties.
