Born on December 25, 1954, in La Tuna, Badiraguato, Sinaloa, Mexico, Guzmán's early life was marked by poverty and hardship. Growing up in a rural farming community, he was exposed to the harsh realities of life from a young age. Guzmán's introduction to the world of organized crime began when he started working for the Sinaloa Cartel, initially as a low-level marijuana smuggler.
