Using digital ethnography of forums, subreddits, and piracy trackers, the paper traces how performance issues (blurry graphics, long load times) drove players toward unauthorized copies—sometimes even after purchasing the game legally. It concludes by discussing what this case reveals about platform loyalty, quality assurance in AAA ports, and the ethics of “trying before buying” on underpowered hardware.
