OpenCore Legacy Patcher is a bootloader and patching system based on the OpenCore project, which is widely used by the "Hackintosh" community. In simple terms, OCLP allows older Macs—models that Apple officially dropped support for—to run newer versions of macOS. For example, it can enable a 2012 MacBook Pro to run macOS Sonoma or Ventura, granting access to modern features, security updates, and software compatibility that the hardware would otherwise be denied. It accomplishes this by injecting necessary drivers and patching the operating system on the fly to work with older graphics cards and WiFi modules.
