In the mid-to-late 2000s and early 2010s, Blogspot (Blogger) was the de facto platform for niche content creators in Sri Lanka. Before the dominance of YouTube, Netflix, and proprietary streaming services like IBox or PEO TV, Sinhala cinephiles turned to blogs for reviews, news, and—controversially—pirated or hard-to-find film uploads. The URL pattern sinhalamovies365.blogspot.com (or similar permutations) became emblematic of this grassroots digital movement.
